TAKING TIME TO SPREAD THE LOVE AND PROMOTE GOOD HEALTH AND PROPER CARE OF OUR FURRY FRIENDS IN MANDALUYONG CITY
The “Pet Ko, Love Ko!” project of Councilor Charisse Abalos was a huge success. Widely participated in by the residents of Mandaluyong City and their pets, the event gathered pet-owners and animal lovers from all over the city to participate in various activities that promote proper pet ownership, animal health and wellness and wider awareness of animal rights and city ordinances. Held at the Hardin ng Pag-Asa in Martinez Street, the project took place on Sunday, March 8, 2015.
The activities began at 9:00AM with Councilor Charisse Abalos giving the opening remarks. Dr. Pecos Camarines then started the series of talks by discussing animal rights and providing a review of existing animal ordinances. Lively games followed then a talk about basic obedience training was given by the Mandaluyong K9. One of the interesting activities of the event, the fashion show, captured everyone’s interest and attention as pet owners proudly paraded their pets in their interesting costumes in the hopes of being selected for a prize. Dr. Mace then gave the third and last of the talks on pet health awareness. After some more games, the awarding took place with Councilor Charisse Abalos awarding the 3 cutest pets in costumes.
A sizeable number trooped to the event to also take part in the other activities. 370 pets received anti-rabies vaccination, over 20 dogs and cats were spayed and neutered and over 15 dogs and cats were pampered with the free pet grooming. It was definitely a fun-filled day for all pets and owners alike and a wonderful way to promote animal rights and support animal health and community safety.
Participants wrapped up their “Pet Ko, Love Ko!” experience by bringing home delightful goodies for their pets – organic dog shampoo, imported dog formula mix, dog friendly bisquits and bottled animal health formula in a yellow eco-bag courtesy of Councilor Charisse Abalos and the project’s generous sponsors.
